My bookmark is a picture of Pat Tillman. I think about him every time I open the book. My mind floats on the posits of the book, sacrifice, and what makes an icon.

Upon reading the first four, and now headily into the fifth chapter, I'm finding myself thrown into different lives with common themes. I'm wondering if Mr. Mitchell had intended for the reader to experience a kind of reincarnation experience; multiple lives with similar themes and obstacles; I'm living it. It's a kind of mastry of written storytelling I've yet to have had experienced, and am grateful.

magic...the time is now...

My immediate angst at picking this up to read was put to rest after the hysterics I experienced while reading.

I'm reserving judgement...

Pictures. Sometimes I just like his renderings.

Building...pace quickens...characters come together more strongly...around and around the plot lines tumble and...

Like water for wine, I've had to slow down a bit lest I overindulge. I mean that in the sense, that I love it, but I can only take so much at a sitting. It's so rich, I'm reminded of eating a decadent desert. Though this isn't overly sweet, it's rich and I'm but I've been drinking from watery places for comfort.

I'm particularly looking forward to the sections dealing with memory transference between the intermediate state and a(nother) incarnation. One doesn't want to lose their place, in the book or progress in life--well, not I, anyway.

I'm captivated.

I respect Mr Eggers' life situation, the "heartbreak," his wit, pith, and talent. I am having the hardest time wanting to continue. SLOW storyline. ADD begets ADD.

Ch 8. A person I dated gave this to me, recommended as a favorite. Interesting how favorites can lend a insight into someone's character. My date road tripped the route during a cross country move. I AM reading it for myself, but I think maybe through a gel.

The pace slows: It's so rich I find I need to break it up into chunks to digest it properly. A vein of turquoise ties these essays together in book about the southwest.

I'm alternating between crying and laughing; sadness and joy; That odd feeling between joy and sadness, and awe. Not only am I impressed with some of the "childnood" anecdotes of say, Joshua performing miraculous healings, like repairing a cracked skull, when they were children, on Joshua's little brother when their version of "stone the harlot," got out of hand. But at the inclusion of classics, Hillel Diogenes.

How could one not give this 5 stars?

Done.

I love the subject matter of this book. I love what Zia Jaffrey put into making his book. It's written, like a person would put together a documentary movie, and less like a person would construct a journal article or discussion. It's a linear presentation of the author's interviews and experiences and is, what I find to be, a flaw that makes the book less engaging than it could be.

I'm particularly enjoying the disparity in pagination between Goodreads and the text I have. I'm 109% finished with the book.
