Today I can report that I have learnt that in the 12th century, there were religious anchoresses who lived a life of solitude and piety. Living in a room no bigger than a cell I fact Leatherhead's was a mere eight foot square and these women were enclosed for twenty, thirty or even fifty years .....

3 chapters to go but not reading primary sources....all on culture and spirituality so interesting

Very academic and dry, but I'm determined to finish it
