This is so good. Captures it all, pretty much.

Listening to the audiobook, and the male narrator recording is somehow not great quality unfortunately. Maybe I’m tired from burning through the Booker longlist, but this feels like slog. A bit in the face too about the social issues the characters are facing.

So weird. Uneasy and mesmerising.

Audiobook.

I like this better than I expected. I like Sunday, and she has some good lines about children growing up.

What am I even reading? Who is this woman?

Booker 2023 longlist 4/13
This is the one that pulled me in most so far. Love the atmosphere and the style. The story is intriguing, and I don’t see yet where it’s going which is nice compared to the previous book.
Bit ambivalent about the audiobook narrator, but love her accent and mostly she’s doing well.

Cannot locate a non kindle ebook unfortunately, so only audio so far.

I’m rooting for Tess but unsure what’s best for her. Marriage seems a dead-end. I guess Tadhg is a potential love interest, though that would be very predictable. I find Jamie a bit irritating, and the narrator voicing him doesn’t help. In any case, focus seems to have shifted to Tess after the start.
