I kinda hate to say this but this book feels... less edited than the first two? I'll have to go back and check but I don't remember there being *this* many run on sentences in the others.

I think I know who the killer is but if I'm right, I'm gonna be mad about it

Damn, I'm barely three chapters in and somehow this has already managed to turn from beautiful and compelling to stilted and borderline unreadable.

Had to go looking for answers online about why this has been so confusing so far, and the constant lore dump makes more sense now that I know this is part of a huge series. That being said, it's annoying that nowhere on the cover or front/back descriptions does it SAY that. It's presented as a stand-alone entry, which is very, very inaccurate.

Genuinely might have to DNF this because all interesting parts of the plot and compelling aspects of the main character's personality have all been abandoned and replaced with said main character being an absolute bonehead.

I'm not entirely sure how to describe this so far. Right now it is very depressing, but feels like it is trying very hard to hide the fact that it is depressing.

I am emotionally devastated!
