Thoreau's Walden keeps coming up in my recent reads. OKAY UNIVERSE! I'll read it as soon as possible!

To summarize: "We are in the absurd position of needing perpetual growth just in order to avoid societal collapse."

Really liking it so far! The comparisons to Dickens scared me a bit, but I've been loving the graceful arcs of the characters' backstories. Some of these chapters are heartbreaking...

I have a feeling this book is one of those with really random, separate story lines that all collide with each other at the end and I LOOOOOVE THAT

So far, my brain gets a little ping of happiness every time I read the word "bullshit," and it's been a very happy read. Also, I like the train of thought that while technology has made it easier for us to complete our jobs and that SHOULD have given us fewer working hours, instead, induced demand happened, and administrative bullshit filled the void.

Okay... after a nearly one-month reading slump, I'm back!
