John is on page 123 of 284 of Into the Void: From Birth to Black Sabbath—And Beyond
Being a long time Sabbath fan, knowing he wrote some of their most memorable lyrics, and is one of my bass heroes, I decided to give this a go.
Butler is an effortless storyteller. Never getting too into details, never getting too heavy. His story is entertaining, eye opening, tight, and at times hilarious.
Yes, most know Ozzy’s antics by now, most fans know a good deal of the Sabbath story-but this is the goods.

John is on page 42 of 1178 of The Lord of the Rings
I started this on March 25, Tolkien Reading Day.
Tolkien has been a favorite of mine for several decades (I’m not bragging, I’m just old). To boost my grade in English class in High School, my teacher suggested I read and take some quizzes, write a paper. I chose to read The Hobbit and it changed everything for me.
(I currently teach Language Arts in middle school, I have an BA in Literary Theory, etc).

This book is THOROUGHLY researched. I believe it started as a doctoral thesis. I have played bass for a long time, and love the instrument. This is a work of love choke full of information. Loving it so far.
