The more I read this the more anxious I get for this kid. I’ve heard immigration stories from my Mexican relatives but this is different. I can’t imagine having to cross 2 countries and cross to the US as a 10 year old with a bunch of strangers.

Picked up this book because I remember having to read it in elementary school but I truly don’t remember much of what I’ve read so far. It’s such a cute read!

“I could never be of both worlds, only half in and half out, waiting to be ejected at will by someone with greater claim than me” as the daughter of immigrants myself this reminds me of the Mexican American sentiment, “ni de aquí ni de allá” meaning neither from here or there.
