Settling in to read the final novelette, which is also the title story, and absolutely can't wait to get into this one. I'm legitimately sad that I'm almost done with this collection.

Brilliant so far, as I knew it would be! Of the stories I have already read, my favorites are all in the back half, so I'm expecting to love the rest of this collection even more. So far it's beautifully cohesive and a very good showcase of Thomas Ha's work.

I am completely entranced by this book. I love the style of the prose, the delightfully unreliable narrator, and the stories-within-stories aspect. I would perhaps die for Ylfing.

I found the initial premise very interesting, and was enjoying the meditative nature of the writing, but by the halfway point I felt really mired down. I found that I was starting to pick at the logistics of the premise and questioning why the characters weren't doing XYZ, rather than just enjoying the experience. I've heard good things about this, but with 7 volumes it's too much for me to commit to considering my l

Liking this a lot so far! An intriguing blend of genres and I really like the MC: a prickly, smart young woman who is kinda going through it. Cant wait to see where this goes.

I'm loving this. Love the tone and narrative voice. Darkly funny and whimsical, like Lewis Carroll writing nonsense for adults. A lot could happen between now and the end, but thus far this is on track to be my favorite novel released in 2024.

Loving this so far. Fantastic narrative voice and I'm really enjoying the Tombs of Atuan vibes (highly complimentary).

This continues to be great, light-hearted fun. It's not deep, but it's funny, well envisioned and executed, and very sweet. A great palate cleanser. I'm hoping the ending will leave room for a sequel.

So far this is great fun. I love Tanya Huff and this fits right in with her backlist, especially her urban fantasy and short stories. It's very funny and lighthearted, with that Tanya Huff narrative voice that really works for me.

To this point I'd liken it more to old-school urban fantasy than to "cozy horror" - but to be fair, I don't have a good handle on what exactly "cozy horror" is, and it's still early.

I read this back in April and really liked it, but wasn't sure how I felt about certain elements of the book, especially towards the end. It's been sitting at a mental 4.5 stars and sort gnawing at my brain (complimentary) ever since. I realized I didn't review it when I first read it because I wanted to let it settle first. I'm in a bit of a reading lull and decided to reread - I'm excited to see how it hits!
