Ok the formics are spraying chemicals. Each formic has a tank with a wand .... ha ha ha .... spraying Monsanto weedkiller. Never heard of crop dusters? They do interstellar flights, yet can't figure out a better way to terraform a planet?

Also, formics are suppose to swarm, so I imagine like locusts, bees ... but nothing up till now.
