Ugh! 😑 Characters assuming (often due to insecurities or misinformation) instead of talking and listening to each other is a huge turn off for me in a book. 📕 We shall see if the last 10% can redeem some measure of this book.

Jury is still out… Imagine you are playing a board game but getting around the board is taking forever in a several squares forward and a couple squares back fashion.

I’m about 1/3 of the way through the book. So far I’d describe it as enigmatic, inspirational, and mournful.

I’m now 80% of the way finished and so far this book is firmly in the “sad romance” category. I’m still hoping for a redeeming finish.

I’m just over halfway through this book and cannot see how the main characters are going to resolve their issues. Perhaps this is one of those stories that doesn’t necessarily end with a HEA. 🤷‍♀️

April is on page 300 of 384 of The Spy and the Traitor: The Greatest Espionage Story of the Cold War
After a very slow set up, the story picked up the pace around chapter 13 or 14.

So far this is a frustrating read. I keep mentally yelling at one main character to TALK to the other main character and demand that they clear the air, state whatever is bothering them, etc. 😤🫣🫠 So far that’s not happening. I’m planning to keep reading for at least a bit longer in hopes the characters will act like healthy adults and communicate effectively.

If you like football 🏈 and enjoy the nitty gritty of plays, game rules, player stats, etc. this is the book for you.

2 stories seem to be going on simultaneously in this book. The married couple storyline has a lot of frustrating repetitive inner dialogue. 🙄 Hopefully that gets better…

I’m contemplating leaving this book unfinished. It is not hard to guess where the book is headed but it feels like it’s taking forever to get there. I hate when authors make characters rehash the same scenario, insecurities, or inner dialogue over and over. There are a few unknowns I’m sticking with it to find out, like what is up with Aunt Miriam? We’ll see how long I last.

I’m not finding book 2 as enthralling. I’ve had to remind myself to pick it up. I still want to finish to see if there is any redeeming plot twist or clue about the next book that sucks me back into the series.

I thought book 2 of the Wayfarers series would continue the story where it left off. This book appears to follow two of the side characters from the first book.

This is a wild book. Not wild crazy but impressive wild. The character development is robust! The world creation and explanations don’t just make sense, they make you feel like you should be taking notes so you know how to better treat those around you. The story is not moving fast but that’s not surprising knowing it is a series.

So far really good. The characters remind me of the TV show Firefly.

Good so far although I have lost track of how many times the author has talked about a character’s eyes widening slightly. It seems 👀 excessive.
