Abandoned at 17%. I'm not sure who this book is for.

God, this is so incredibly exhausting. I'm not sure whom this is for. Its trying so very very hard to be... something. Edgy, harsh, jarring... or something. And it just makes me tired. Nobody likeable in this book. Nobody that makes you want to continue, no plot so far. I'll give this until 20% and if it doesn't stop being almost comically gross it's a pass for me.

I am not sure what is more grating at this point, the forced sassiness, the forced jolliness of our narrator, or the forced references. Wheaton reads like I probably sound when I've forgotten my medication and want to pretend I'm jolly.

I'm just along for the ride at this point as I've lost all overview of who everybody is and doubt it'll matter, too, somehow. Who's the mysterious prince? No clue. His brother was murdered? OKay, must have missed that.

I can't keep doing this. NOthing makes sense. Yes, I'm sure he's very very very sexy, it's FINE STOP IT.

I am so bored. If I have to hear one more time how incredibly hot the MC's boytoy is I'm going to hurl my phone across the room. Nothing makes sense. If you want a better time, go read A Sue's Story by resourcefulidiot back on FF.net. It's from the early 00ies and has a very similar MC.

What military sense does it make to have your candidates for the elite programme die in droves once training is over?

Backstory is dumped, otherwise Oh Hi we're the new friends, oh Hi, I'm the guy you're going to fall for, Hi, I'm the childhood sweetheart, but I did like Divergent, so this is fun, too. So far no dragon porn and women as props, which is what drove me batty about DRoP, but the death count at the academy is absolutely ridiculous.

Reading this during an active panic attach might have not been the best idea.
