Ms. Jacobsen's realistic scenario shows how truly screwed we'd be. Existential level dystopia. This is a horror story.

This scenario, as the author calls it, is completely grounded in reality as recently learned during the Covid pandemic, of the accidental release of a weaponized plague bacterium, spreading human-to-human via airborne transmission. With enhanced virulence and other chimerical additions, the virus is essentially untreatable. Great story, with lots of relevant historical context.

I've been enjoying this new collection from Tenebrous Press. There's a story, Avila Beach by Z.D. Dochterman, containing a world that I'd like to know more about, particularly Encuentro Island and what devilry goes on there. Lots of good stories and challenging ideas. Out today, I think, and recommended for your consideration.

I read the first two chapters. Well-written, absurdist, go with it.

Bellona reminds me of a Ligotti "skeleton town."
