I'm bored. It's all very generic and I don't care to finish it.

I thought I'd love this. But I'm two chapters in and I want to stop. From the first on page scenes of Nox and Luca, it feels like Luca is a different character. Then I read reviews. Then I saw the page count... I'm noping out of this. I'm gonna keep my good memories of the first book intact by not reading the sequel. I won't make the same mistake has I did with Dark Space where books 2 and 3 ruin everything.

So. I don't have a problem with dubcon, not usually. But this time I do. Emil and Adam first have sex because Adam is possessed by a demon and he makes Adam seek out Emil and they bang. Emil doesn't know this. And for some reason, this really rubbed me the wrong way. Like I feel bad for Emil big time in this instance. Adam, not so much. Let's be honest, Adam isn't a great character. I'm DNFing this.

DNF at 20%.

I got bored. It wasn't keeping my attention and I started wanting to skim. So, nope. Life's too short to be reading a book I don't enjoy. 

I can't finish this. I'm at 65% and pretty much all the characters infuriate me. I want to strangle Michael for all of Arden's boundaries he crosses because he seems to think he knows best. I want to strangle Arden for allowing Michael to disrespect him constantly. Fuck these characters.

I haven't been able to pick this back up in a couple of months, so I'm going to put it on pause. It's not the book. I love it so far. It's both the fact that I have a paperback and holding it open while eating at work is impossible, and the fact that this global panini has ruined my attention span and ability to read for more than 10 minutes. Only audiobooks work right now, and sadly, it's not in audio.

I've been struggling with the last 10%. I want to know what happens, about the Seven of Spades, but I have the urge to DNF. And I know exactly why I feel this way. Dominic and Levi are moving appart mostly because Dominic is lying about the gambling and I hate it. I hate seeing a otherwise loving couple I ship being dishonest with one another. I don't know what to do.

Slate's POV is the best. Can't stop chuckling.

This whole chapter where they ride horses for the first time is hilarious, I love it.

25% in is a lot for NOTHING to have happened. World building, world building and wait, what's that? Oh. More world building. Names of towns and cities and regions and people and invented names for every day shit.
Nothing. Has. Happened. Yet.
Liall offended/angered Scarlet by asking for sex as his toll. That's it. The rest is world building. And this is only two chapters. I'm giving it another chapter and then...

I can't. This book is not for me. I have nothing against teenage innocence when it comes to sex, but Lanu's childlike behaviour and comprehension is pulling me out of the story. I also dislike the band of thieves, their dynamic, and how they talk. I'm usually a fan of banter and sarcasm, but for some reason I find this annoying to no end.
Sorry, book, you're going on my DNF shelf.

Hmm... I don't know what to think after the second chapter. This is very different from The Conqueror, which I loved. I'm annoyed at the way Colin and his gang talk. Like it's making me not take them seriously... Oh well, pressing on.

DNF at 24%. I can't seem to care about any of the characters and what's going on in this book's world. So many things I don't understand, I'm not one for infodumps but there are just too many unexplained confusing terms. On top of that, typos. Little things that should have been fixed at editing. I tried to ignore them but coupled with the fact the story just can't seem to grab my attention for good... I can't.

I super-skimmed the rest of the book after 66%. I wanted to know how it ended without investing time. It was a wise decision. Rolled my eyes pretty hard.
