This book is unexpectedly fantastic. So raw and shocking in the most calm and gentle way. Feels incredibly Kiwi in that sense.

This book is so heartbreakingly sad and so real and raw that it's hard to put down and hard to keep reading at the same time.

Funny book, this one is!

Wow. A book that so bluntly describes the experience of a dark-skinned Sri Lankan Tamil immigrant family in Lower Hutt. Just like mine. This is the closest I've felt to my father since his death, as he, too, struggled to fit into a modern kiwi town after leaving the village life of Matale, Sri Lanka.

There is so much pain in every page of this book.

This book is breaking my heart.

This book is fantastic. It's up there with 1984 and Brave New World, as it's a dystopian novel. I love this genre of dystopia in which the main character is different from the people around them, and this is the driving force of the novel. Incredibly written too.

3/4 of the way through this book and it only just got slightly interesting. I'm finding it quite boring, there's no real plot, just a story of two friends and their businesses with a lot of flashbacks. Some bits are interesting but it doesn't make the book itself interesting....

More than half way through and I just feel sorry for this poor pathetic woman who yearns for the love of this sad, older man. Why is this sad old man with this young girl. Why is she so desperate for his love. The bio says there's a twist so it better be good because so far this book is a drab that reminds me of tumblr poetry from 2013

I don't get it, the only thing I've gathered from this book is that they're having lots of sex and he's really good at giving head
