The first book was so good that I’m really hoping there is a justifiable reason for the increasingly long sections involving Extremely Unlikable Luo Ji and his search for the ideal “pure, innocent, petite” perfect woman, because right now I just want to hurl.

so far this is just Naomi Novik fan fiction? Which like, I love Naomi Novik, but I'm waiting to see why this is getting such rave reviews.
