in a really nice rhythm with reading the psalms and following my bible guide. it always feels so refreshing

finally got it back after my loan ended and i had to wait on hold. so much interesting info that makes so much sense but is highkey sad

i love reading this now as my last book of the NT for this year. i feel like it’s that missing puzzle piece to put it all together with our current times

been wanting to read this since i saw it on my therapist’s desk last year. very much loving it so far and am ready to take some notes on points that make me think and make it my personality.

started out lowkey really depressing but i heard this compared to “The Good Part” which i really liked. i like the premise and i feel like im finally into the meat of the book after having listened to it most of the evening today.

watch out everyone i’m about to be healed of my insecure attachment style (sike!) i’m learning a lot—basically anyone i’ve ever had mutual interest with was an avoidant and i basically have a disordered attachment style (bc im unique) and no one knows how to deal w that

actually started listening to this a while ago on youtube before the recording was banned— i remember listening to it when i got my teeth cleaned once like a year ago. caught up to where i was and then listened on my run. it’s cute seeing the whole setup come to fruition. easy to listen to while doing other things unlike a lot of the nonfiction i’ve been reading

finished up part 1. it’s reaffirming that a lot of this was what i did instinctually when i cut back on my social media and screen time over the past year. now it’s giving me a good way to move forward and better constraints and reasons to continue.

it’s surreal reading about your family’s family through the lens of someone who didn’t know them like i did. i’ve heard some of the horrors eddie put them through but reading ab chuck and uncle eddie’s role in stuff feels very out of body since both played a role for me at some point and chuck is literally my legal dad and the parent of my sibling… about to go full investigator on this family tree

author’s voice is so relaxing its hard for me to stay cued in. the content is really good and affirming. not much i’ve never heard before but still stuff im working through so a reminder never hurts

this book is like crack. will be finishing it very soon. i want more like this. cute romance but also good lessons to love what you have rather than wishing your life away

so this book is reading ME like a book… only in chapter 2 and somehow every single thing feels directly about me. even with different vignettes for kinds of upbringings that led to certain fawning responses, somehow i’ve had almost all of them? giving me some good journaling topics and things to add to my “for therapy” list.

this is why people say the old testament is like reading a drama. david really goofed so bad but he’s still such a big, overall honorable person. wild to get this better understanding of david.. not just david and goliath understanding but david as king, david and bathsheba, david’s kids etc

not as good as dare to lead yet but there’s definitely some good practices in here that i’m gonna try!

SO GOOD so far. very very intellectually stimulating while still readable and accessible for non-experts

even tho this is for my class book report, i can tell im really gonna enjoy this read. almost brought to tears just from the first chapter.

not many books make me feel as seen as this one. gonna take the lessons i’ve been learning and bits revealed about myself to my journal and then to therapy. hard to read without stirring up a lot of complex emotions. since i love my caregivers dearly, this is easier to conceptualize and apply when thinking of my parents when i was a child as opposed to who they are now.
