My goodness this is gorgeous.

Seriously considering a DNF. It is just not a riveting book.

I am just noticing some of the somewhat inexplicably bad reviews on this, which lead me to believe one of the characters will turn out to be LGBTQIA+, because even 70 pages in I can tell it is not a one star book. So, that’s my prediction.

A student recommended this to me, so I thought I’d give it a whirl.

Of course after I post about my concerns, the book picks up steam. And I can’t edit it out apparently!

At 25% in, I am torn. I love the idea of the book, and I like the idea of the characters, but so far it reads a bit like seeing them from the proverbial galloping horse. It is hard to be invested in anyone when we are being introduced to everyone, and there doesn’t seem to be any depth to any particular character. I don’t want to call them caricatures, but it feels Lake Wokebegone-ish. Will carry on a bit.
