I don't know if I can finish it. It's truly dreadful. This is Quinn's first published novel and it shows. I'm five chapters in and it's just sexual assault and harassment from the hero being passed off as romance and passion. Thank goodness Quinn's style has since improved tremendously.

Having tossed the story aside months ago out of sheer boredom, I've finally decided to pick up where I left off only to find Claire at yet another one of Jacosta's blasted garden parties. Inevitably, Claire will receive a thinly veiled threat from someone who has been giving her the stink eye from across the lawn and there will be some sort of medical emergency where Claire saves the day.

The first SEVENTEEN chapters were absolute torture to get through. All of those pages amounted to one single day in the story. Those pages could have easily been whittled down to two or three chapters at the most. The pace of the story picks up considerably after chapter 18. Rather than avoid picking up the book for weeks at a time, I find myself reading a few chapters several times throughout the day.

Very quickly losing interest in this book. How Gabaldon managed to write 13 chapters taking place in one single morning is beyond me. 13 chapters and I'm not even sure we've made it past noon in the book yet! Things better get a move on soon or I'm abandoning this series for good.

I've only just read the section on tidying clothes and I've already cleaned out all of my wardrobes and tackled all of the clothes I have stored in my shed! I'm beginning to think the reviews were right. This book is life changing!

I can't believe how much I'm struggling to get through this book! The middle of the book moves sooooo slooowly! Such a shock considering the fast pace of the first book and the rather shocking beginning chapters in this book.

So excited! Finally, after waiting the longest 10 months of my life for this to be released, I can continue with this next book in the series.

I don't like this writer's style. I'm finding the story difficult to get through.

Ugh. This is such hard work. I am not a fan of P.D. James' writing style at all. I'm completely bored to tears. We are introduced to so many servants and given such minute details about their backgrounds and extended families that my eyes keep glazing over and I find myself having to read the same paragraph over again. The murder has just happened and I honestly couldn't care less who has committed it.

Going through Darcy and Elizabeth withdrawals after reading the Clandestine Classics version of Pride and Prejudice so have decided to give this novel a go.

In the middle of chapter 6, book 2. I'm starting to really hate this book. The female lead is a moron. What 22 year old consistently uses phrases like, "oh my", "oh geez" or "down there" when referring to her own body? I am not a quitter however, and I shall soldier on through this god forsaken trilogy...

Just beginning chapter 21. These characters are starting to piss me off, but I'm determined to see this series through now that I've started it.
