I am tired of YA books where a girl only cares about a guy because he's hot. Sexualization doesn't happen only to female characters.

A summary of events thus far (from books 1 and 2): Poor Adan is knocked out once again.

I just read the most wonderfully descriptive chapter and had to make a note of it so I can go back and read it again: chap. 35, On the Threshold.

I remembered one more... TEN people died in the last chapter.

At least five major people died in thi— no, at least seven major people died in this chapter... No... NINE. NINE people died in this chapter!

My word. Hurin's family may just be the saddest family I have ever read about.

I'm listening to the Focus on the Family radio theater version of the Screwtape Letters which is less like letters and more like a conversation between Screwtape and Wormwood. I'm enjoying Andy Serkis a Screwtape a lot!

Loving the wacky formatting. Not loving the blacked out swear words. It brings more attention to them, in my opinion. I'm having fun making up my own words to fill the blanks: "Those [bunny rabbits] should have got in line."

I had to giggle over the fact that Sauron turned himself into a vampire for awhile.

I'm listening to this one on audiobook. So, no, I'm technically "reading" four books at one time... though I might be after I pick up a book from the library... *cough cough*

The family trees in the back of the book are VERY helpful.

I remember thinking that Chasing Redbird was the strangest Sharon Creech book when I was younger. It's not as strange as I remember.

The lengths that Stalin went to to ensure that he stayed in power are mind-boggling. His espionage seems like something from a thriller, not history.

I'm only one chapter in and it's already so fabulous that I recommend it to any fans of Shostakovich or Russian history in the 20th century.

Grrr... Mrs. John Dashwood irks me to no end.

I'm about halfway through my last Jane Austen book (at least, of her major works)! Sniff, sniff.

Each Harry Potter book keeps getting better and better... but I refuse to start the next one until I finish Cinder and The Well of Ascension. Reading five books at once is ridiculous, even for me.

Trying to finish book 1 (which ends on page 203) before we go camping tomorrow...

Poor Ira... He thought his name was Isidore until he was in his 20s (or 30s?) getting a passport and he found out his name was actually Israel!

Gah! I'm nearly finished and I'm SO SCARED about what's going to happen!! The tension is rising... This is a great book.
