"However, the perfect Virgin stood,
Who was preaching and summoning, and saying:

'O you sons of men, return,
And you their daughters, come.

And leave the ways of that Corruptor,
And approach me.

And I will enter into you,
And bring you forth from destruction,
And make you wise in the ways of truth.'"

Jeremiah Graham is on page 10 of 208 of The Will to Change: Men, Masculinity, and Love
"In patriarchal culture males are not allowed simply to be who they are and to glory in their unique identity. Their value is always determined by what they do. In an antipatriarchal culture males do not have to prove their value and worth. They know from birth that simply being gives them value, the right to be cherished and loved."

Jeremiah Graham is on page 61 of 396 of Titus Groan (Gormenghast, #1)
"The rich soil crumbles through the yeoman's fingers. As the pearl diver murmurs, 'I am home' as he moves dimly in strange water-lights, and as the painter mutters, 'I am me' on his lone raft of floorboards, so the slow landsman on his acre'd marl-says with dark Fuchsia on her twisting staircase, 'I am home.'"

I'm so excited to return to my favorite fantasy series! These books get better with every re-read.

Jeremiah Graham is starting Angel of the West Window
DNF. Ok. Not really my thing. I originally picked this up to get a better understanding of Meyrink's occult obsession (which, I know, is weird coming from a Christian reader on goodreads.) I really enjoyed the "Golem", but there's too much that is self-absorbed, and detachedly creepy about Meyrink's John Dee. Also, John Dee's obsession with marrying a young Queen Elizabeth in the story is just plain gross.

Holy s$%t! Why isn't this book more popular? Definitely one of the most original, modern fantasy books that I've read in awhile. More thoughts to come.
