The main characters are insufferable, pretentious pricks, except for Marx who is bizarrely perfect. The author tries very hard to spray a bit of wokeness throughout (gender, race, sexuality, disability all get their turns) - somehow the geography of oppression in this book matches precisely with current American discourse, as if the author had no experience or opinion of her own.
Yet it's pretty entertaining.
