Recently I learned about litRPG/GameLit, which is fiction that incorporates video gaming in some form. Hadn't really given it a chance until a friend launches his debut in the genre. Man this is good stuff. A cross between Sword Art Online (one of my favorite anime) and Monster Hunter, I'm really liking The Goblin King.

First few stories are great. Lots of humor. And super short so it lends itself well to my low attention span.

So far pretty good. Just getting to know the characters and checking them against the couple of shorts I've read from Brian.

Starting to get a little bored of the story line. Just seems to be dragging a bit.

Hmm, the final third was a bit disappointing. I understand this is the first book in a series, but there just seemed to be too many things left hanging, so much that the ending was unsatisfying. There were a few times were I was taken out of the story by either modern vernacular that didn't seem to fit the setting, or decisions that didn't fit well with the characters. Other than that, the book was decent.

The middle third of this book has definitely changed in tone from the beginning. A few things have thrown me out of the story a bit. I am hopeful the final third brings things back together and delivers a solid resolution.

Very, very slow start of this sequel trilogy, but it's finally picking up at the midpoint.

Reading this in anticipation of the upcoming Amazon series. I'm not a huge fan of older works of fiction since the word usage is strange, and this book follows suit, but the story has finally become interesting about halfway though.

Was really looking forward to this book after hearing about its premise and reading the introductory short story in Shattered Shields, and I must say I am thoroughly enjoying it.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. This book is amazing. Probably because I'm six years older than James Halliday and associate with all of the 80's references in the novel. Reading this is like playing an MMO, just one more level/chapter and I'll go to bed.

I met Moses at the recent Superstars Writing Seminars in Las Vegas and decided to pick up his self-published debut novel. So far, the world building is great. Not your typical western European cultures. Instead more of a Persian/Roman and Indian feel to the two cultures. A very promising start.

Re-reading The Runelords after originally reading it shortly after it was published. I'm finding my memory faulty as I don't recall some of the early events of the book. The magic system and its consequences is fascinating and is the primary draw for the book. The story itself, at least so far, has been OK, predicatble, nothing to write home about but enjoyable.
