I SWEAR this will be a reading year. I'm hitting want to read on far too many things, so I'm just ignoring myself in terms of actually getting any of those done, but.

I actually AM reading (and not just fanfic and RP writing) quite a lot, because work right now involves picking random lengthy texts for a thing, but they're mostly academic articles...? Still counts, but not on here.

Privileged to receive an ARC! Had to stop earlier than I wanted bc of migraine (which is eerie when light-sensitive headaches are a symptom in the book) — although it was a good reminder to get off screens and read!

Regardless, this starts off quick and does a really balanced job so far of historical scenes and creeping suspense. Very cinematic, as well. I’m only at chapter 3 and excited for more.

About two thirds out loud in two days - about 140 (Kindle) pages a day! (Having to return to a weekday reading schedule is going to feel so slow :P) My throat hates me but I’m loving it and sharing this fave series with Jess (especially as I’ve been greenlit to go on to Doctor Sex and Harrow afterwards.) Also just so very re-enamored of all my faves, the Sixth House particularly.

Rereading, this time aloud with Jess. We made it more than a third through in a day...I think that means they like it ;)
(Or they just like ME, but still.)

I’m catching so many foreshadowings and hints and not even hints, just ironies and nods, this time around— it’s very interesting to watch someone else form theories (and also to rewatch the characters. Oh Gideon, you have so many hormones all the time).

Finally figured out how to specify the edition on this! I thought it wasn't fair to myself to list all nine as "one book". It might think this counts as a reread but I don't think it does, since there are considerable updates to the text.

This is both a reread and a new-read (especially will be as I get to the end bc I never got through all nine as they were first coming out) - I’m curious to see all the updates in the New Millennium Editions, esp High Wizardry! So far it’s fitting in very seamlessly, noticeable as I’ve read SYWTBAW about a hundred times but feels natural.

Up late reading by phone flashlight...

Depression is making me read more slowly than usual, but this story - or many, many stories - is super compelling already! The language is just beautiful and I’m loving the casual references (I saw you there Brakebills shout-out).

I wasn’t wrong about devouring this one.

I’m a sucker for magic in and (in) media res, and this one definitely throws you right into things! This feels very much like a juuust slightly tilted New Haven already (Skull and Bones WISHES it was edgy enough to do financial prognostication involving illegal surgery).

If I wasn’t sick I’d still be reading/I definitely will be reading BECAUSE I’m sick later.

A little late getting through this (I was trying to get the review done in time for the book-birthday) because of Life Events, but I'm devouring it now that I've gotten a chance to sit down.

Very much enjoying! The short sections in this make it really easy to feel accomplished when coaxing a depressed brain to read, too.

Finally got around to this one! Just got one chapter done before plane descent.

Do you guys ever run into ARCs or just ebooks in general that screw up the formatting so badly that it's hard to keep reading no matter how good the story is? I've had that happen a LOT lately. :|
