Even though the plot is pretty serious, there's lots of local laughs, like the "Annual Ballybeg Sports Day." "...the people of the town equated sport with an alcohol-fueled three-legged race along the beach."

Oh dear, abusive not-even-close-to-former-husband's on the scene--that underlying sense of menace is palpable.

Olivia is nervously ecstatic to be opening a cafe, and babysitting her former love's son Luca (a bit) plus living next door to a guy, Jonas, Luca's dad, who makes her heart skip a beat.

What's so enjoyable, occasionally poignantly angsty about this series is that the protags are daughters, sisters, brothers, sons--and family life does enter in, a lot. Add to that the life of an Irish town where there are few secrets and you have a page turner.

I'm going to be adding some long-ass reviews from my Heroes and Heartbreaker First Looks so caveat emptor. Soon as I clean up thousands of contacts from my evil email account. Good times! By the way, read The Promise by Kristen Ashley, great fun, she's in great form.

Really enjoyed seeing how this unusual couple were doing.

Generally unrealistic banter between hero Reath and his companions. Just not buying it. Also, all sorts of mistaken identity stuff starting to unfurl and I don't like plots that hinge on big misunderstandings.

Oh come on, our heroine rescued by our nonplussed hero as she accidentally strolls down St. James Street? Why don't folks just sent money to the Heyer estate? #betheredonethat

I'm with Willaful -- Running Wild by Linda Howard is new but it's old, if that makes sense. Reminds me a lot of the feeling of Duncan's Bride. I just need a comfort book today. Nasty bleak weather not helping.

I just know what's going to happen--same thing in an early In Death book--never borrow a raincoat, it never ends well.
