I have not in fact read 649 pages-that was an error, as I have not yet reached the numbered portion.

I am plowing through the prologue; this might take some time. However, I look forward greatly to "The Tale of Sarcastic Halli" on page 649.

I found out there's a sequel coming...in 2015. A frustratingly long time to wait, but I suppose you can't just scribble down books as great as this one.

It's been a long while since I read this one. A very good take on dragons, and a solidly constructed world.

A book I did not mean to choose, but am happy I did. A good read (and I expect a surprise ending(is it still a surprise ending if I suspect it?))

It has begun to dawn on me that I am reading a book written for five-year-olds. Victorian five-year-olds, but five-year-olds nonetheless. I manage to keep some liking to it, though.

A thoroughly engrossing book I literally find hard to put down for long. As usual, Pollan blends food, history, science, and journalism seamlessly and fascinatingly.

The best thing about From Our Own Correspondent is it's not cold hard news, nor is it a fluffy opinion piece. It's the thoughts and experiences of field journalists who are actually there, with the news breaking around them (and sometimes on them).

I continue to learn with great interest about the state of the world 20 years ago. At one point I was halfway through a piece about President Bush when I realized with a jolt it referred to George Bush Sr.

This book is not a complaint of what's wrong;rather, it is an explanation of what works. For example,in korea, students study for incredible amounts of time; however, Finland holds its teachers to a high standard.

Nonfiction is nice, but it's good to be back in the land of myth and magic.

It's really amazing how much propaganda was used in the Iraq war.

It's not at all the macho adventure story I was expecting, but a fascinating, detailed history of both Afghanistan and Pat Tillman.
