I doubt I'm going to finish this. The characters aren't making good choices and I don't care to follow through with characters like that.

Oh look! Another narrator!!!! Honestly this book is so disjointed. There are ties to be made but Morton is taking more than her usual sweet time to get to the point. I honestly don't even know if it's the jewels, the murder, or Birdie that is the mystery. I'm really not enjoying this.

Slow to start. Pretty certain the relationship between E and her man is not going to last....the couple is written to be offly distant. Reading Ada's section through my fingers!!! Poor girl!

Gretchen is on page 33 of 346 of Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race
For a book that talks about the intelligence and remarkabilty of the unique individuals featured in this book, it sure spends a lot of time reiterating facts we have already read and over explaining things. Lastly, there is a distinct lack of emotion so far.

Taking a break and returning it to the library. This story isn't grabbing me like Vengeance Road.

these stories always take me a bit to get the into because we spend so much time in Mercy's head. I sometimes wish she would just talk to a another human to let them know that she needs help navigating the new person's life.

This series is making me long for Percy Jackson. His series was written so much better. Thinking of abandoning....

can we just agree that Mercy was clearly in an abusive relationship with Luc? this book is slow moving and is leaving me with a profound "get to the freaking point"Ness. I can see why this series has to be dragged out for 5 books. could be done in fewer.

so incredibly bored by this.

I love that in the future smoking is still a thing that is super prevelent in culture.

....and I had nightmares of dead babies....not probably going to finish this.

My book club strongly encouraged me to read this.

Reading any section with Turk narrating was incredibly difficult for me to read.

Not really sure how this portion of Cora's story is driving the overall plot of the series.

the love story of Dolly and Jimmy seem so sweet and perfect it's hard to believe Dolly was so lucky in love twice! Looking forward to finding out more on why they had to go separate ways.
