Next week, I start teaching a lifelong learning class on this book.

It’s interesting that she is so sure that all women should be mothers, given her relationship with Eudora Welty.

I’ve been so looking forward to reading this—I’ve been reading Ellen Gilchrist for decades. My Aunt Julie loved her work, and the Latter Library in New Orleans featured her work on their local authors shelf, since much of it was set in the neighborhood. Still, looking at this list of her work—wow! She was intimidatingly prolific.

I am pleased with the reference to Good Country People.

I’m really enjoying this and learning a lot. I especially appreciate the interviews with ocularists—people who make prosthetic eyes.

The original rules of the game that would become Monopoly are fascinating—including the option to play with the “single-tax variation” rules.

I so enjoyed the series; I’m curious to read th book.

I am halfway through Whistler. Having recently re-read The Dutch House, I’d love to ask Ann Patchett about conversations in cars.
