Started listening to the audio book in mid-March, got halfway through then stalled because of work being busy. Restarted in September. I really love the way Jones keeps you on your toes. And how he does a kind of meta-slasher without simply redoing Scream. As always with Jones’s work, setting is crucial, in this case West Texas. The audiobook narrator does a great job with the accent.

Audiobook. So far, better than Gold Coast.

Audiobook. Not as good as Wild Shore. Kind of silly at times.

Audiobook. Not for me but I also don’t like not finishing books. Contains phrases like “the redoubtable [name of character]” (more than twice),“satisfied equine crunching noises” and repeated use of “Christ’s blood” as a curse.

I’m listening to the audiobook narrated by Simon Vance. When I first tried reading this novel over 30 years ago, I couldn’t get past Van Helsing. I’m encountering the same problem now. I will persevere.
