I swear I'll update with all the books I've read in the last few years. I swear I will.

I've been so bad.

On February 20, 1938, with the resignation of Eden as Foreign Minister it appears to me that a line was crossed, reading it today. From that day forth Chamberlain was able to retreat from a policy of strength and collective security with a free hand. Sound familiar? Spoiler: it did not end well.

When opportunities to do something at little cost are frittered away until the cost is almost too terrible to contemplate. I am reading this with an eye to current events which appear to be drifting towards disaster.

Interestingly I am reading this around Independence Day. It's a very lively account of various of our past leaders and it doesn't pull any punches in characterizing them, including their weaknesses and the form of their character. Nonetheless one gets an appreciation of the unique character of each.

I joined a book club that is reading its way through Finnegans Wake, aloud. This'll be on my reading list for some time as we are getting through only a few pages per meeting.
