Chapter 35: Krys walks to Max’s but then leaves in her car.

I’m trying to figure out how a house that was near enough to the edge of the village in the prologue ends up being far away from anywhere?

About halfway done. Has anyone else noted that Will is wearing a watch with hands instead of his digital watch? Doesn’t he have trouble with things like hands on watches?

Again with the mix-up about Miller’s department. He indicates he doesn’t like dealing with the mayor and city council. But the sheriff’s office is part of Washington County, not the city of Stillwater, which has its own police department.

She is a talented writer and holds my interest but small things bug me as they did in the first book. 1) She continually talks about Miller but does not properly introduce him to the reader other than he worked with her previously and he is the acting/interim sheriff. 2) She often refers to him as Chief Miller when he is Sheriff Miller. A child is missing in Chisago County but references 2 boys missing in Stillwater.

Left off Chapter 12 and had to return.

This is a slog. I'm never very fond of series where the character goes somewhere else, and this is no exception. Apparently there will be some interesting things later, but at only halfway through I'm bored out of my mind.

Okay, at this point I'm rating this a 2. There are WAY too mMy characters, and the lineage of the Native Americans bogs me down. And the stories that open the chapters: each character has TWO names. I can't keep track of anyone.

A man has a falcon on his arm, which miraculously turns into a hawk when airborne. These are different birds!
