I seem to only write these updates when I’m unhappy with the book. That said, this one is a dud. I feel like it’s a chore to finish it. I’ll read a bit more but if it doesn’t draw me in soon I’m going to put it down for good.

Mary Elizabeth is finished with Educated
So far there’s nothing earth shattering here. Sure, it was a dysfunctional family but, not nearly as bad as others I’ve read about. Also, I find the writing choppy. Not loving this book, but I will finish it.

I realized around page 100 that I read this in Georgia last summer, lol. I now remember it was so good I skipped a luncheon so I could stay in and read. Memory is so bad I'm going to read it again. I know the overall plot and what happens but can't remember the details. Just that it was REALLY good.

I just picked book back up after writing about how they're looking in the wrong places and, alas, next chapter has them looking where common sense dictates. Ha.

Patterson is a master storyteller. His characters, on the other hand, are certainly not master detectives. They're looking for something yet skipped the best source. Sure it makes the storyline better but, come on, as a layperson I could find that thing easier then they can. At least I'd cover my bases and look in obvious places first (owner, manager, employees, etc). At least the main character is likable.
