This book feels like it’s getting ready to wrap up, so I was surprised to find it’s only about halfway done… what’s the other half going to be about?

I enjoyed the short stories way more than I’m enjoying this one… hrmmm.

I think I’ve read the start to this book before, but it seems not the whole book. …here goes nothin’!

The medical AI is immediately my favorite character.

I’ve always had trouble remembering dates and historical details in any particularly helpful form. This book is so simply written, maybe it will help me retain some basic timeline of world and American history… (*´∀`)♪

I like the different styles of writing Beagle uses throughout the story. (The butterfly’s speech, for example.) Gives it a nice, unexpected variety
—a good jingle.

I think elements of this book would be really difficult to translate. Kind of makes me want to search for a Japanese edition to see what they did with all the butterfly’s song and poetry references…

Taking notes on all the characters and places and I think my dedication is paying off. (5 chapters in…)

Still really savoring Ken Kesey’s writing!

Even four pages in, I feel like “this is REAL writing.” There’s so much character in every line and word. Compared to English translations of Japanese literature, which are just so stiff and lifeless..(to my ears and soul.) Japanese has its own charm, but if there’s an equivalent of novels written like this, I either haven’t found them yet or—very likely—I don’t have the ability to understand them yet

Hmmm… seeing how things go.
