I do not like this book. It is not particularly well-written, the characters are shallow and undeveloped, and it is incredibly depressing. Someone convince me I should keep reading to the end.

Ugh, I’d forgotten how much of a slog this one is. Weirdly my kids aren’t complaining but I can’t wait to just get through it.

Really not as good as the first one. I’m having a hard time getting through it, although this might just be because I’ve been reading so much literary fiction and that’s more my jam right now.

I think I may need to take a serios hiatus from this one, as I'm just finding it too depressing for my current mood. It begs to be read in midsummer, preferably off the coast of Maine, not on crisp November days with holidays in the air.
