Ok, Patrick did something a bit gutsy. Something that really suprized me and, probably the rest of the reading world.

Patrick made the main character a homosexual.

I mean what author has the guts to do that? In a world where homosexual marriage is illegal in most states, and could get you killed in other counties, making the main character a homosexual is a very big risk. I tip my hat off to you, Patrick.

This is a book about life. How life throws its hard challenges, devastating risks and amazing payoff in 200 pages. Santiago is on a physical adventure trying to find a treasure he saw in a dream, and a mental adventure in trying to unlock the meaning of life. I recently went through the same trip, except that the physical adventure is school. And my Mental adventure took over my Physical one.

At the end of every chapter, a tidbit of media coverage is given to us according to the current situation. These are usually interviews, talk shows, and online media posts. I imagine Daniel flipping from station to station during this segment of the book. And it always seems to be that he is all they talk about.

I hate already hate the press in real life. They always overreact to anything and seem to only search for one side of the story, not the whole thing.

This book just gives me more ammo.

The press never listen to what people have to say after the climax. Take any book. The press stop as soon as the climax happens. They take whatever info they get and they run with it. And I hate that about them.

This book really only has 2 main characters: Alex and Darla. Only recently in the book had they gotten away from the Concentration Camp of a Refugee center. The thing with Apocalypse books is that main characters are few, but you want the main characters to win. That's what I love about Apocalypse books. They go for Quality over Quantity. There is no antagonist, only a regular person fighting for his life.

In this doomsday book, Alex goes trudging through ash, bloodthirsty survivor, and his wits in an attempt to find his parents. This survival book will demonstrate to the reader how far some relationships ca go, and how new ones can be made in the strangest of situations.

I just got started with this. I have no idea what characters are going to be introduced next, if any. I'm keeping my hopes up though.

Pretty much any historical person. This book goes way back when segregation was legal, when shampoo was 25 cents, when entering a contest was 2 bucks, and when the punishment for murder was death.

The overall fact that in the 1930's, a white boy and a black girl can still be friends, even when segregation does exist. Many disagree with the friendship, but that's just because that's the way everyone was used to treating the colored people.

I would give Big Foot a deputy. Someone who is that size and has that much strength needs someone completely inferior to him in every way, shape, and form. But he does know that segregation is wrong, and helps Dit later on.

The main themes are survival and family, and least where I am in the book. Elliot and Vincent are just trying to live at the moment, while being majorly homesick.

Norman Norman (yes, norman norman). He is known as Mira's dumpster diver of sorts, and gets the family free materials to do whatever they want with them. I would like to see just how he manages to pull this off, and maybe even help him.

This book is creepy. Very Creepy. It is narrated through the eyes of Kyle Straktner, an average kid who volunteered for a hypnosis act, only to find his world was changed forever. You can't really have anyone else in the story narrate their events. It is literally different for everyone.

Everything before part two just seems to be against Kasienka in every way, shape, and form. No matter what she tries to do, Kasienka always just seems to be bullied, ignored, or disliked by everything. Thankfully, things look up to her later in the book.

Well here's the thing. This book is made entirely out of poem, if anything, a text structure in itself. While confusing at first, I can see reason behind this. A Polish girl moving to England to try and find her father with only here mom can make her feel trapped. It could be said that this is Kiesha's own diary, or maybe her thoughts inside her head just want to think in poem. Whatevr it is, I can't wait to read it.

People think that most books are just here for entertainment. Well I digress. Books, even ones used for entertainment, have a good life lesson behind them Just to prove my point heres 3 things from this book (so far). 1, everyone has a fear, but it take wits and courage to conquer it. 2, You never know when your best friend could be your greatest enemy. And finally, Unless your Chad Kroeger, love never comes easy.

For a pretty long time, I've been looking for a book with as much humor, yet overall greatness, as "The Schwa Was Here" I still remember how awesome that book was. For now, though, the main character just seems to fail at every step. I would change it so that Jack is a bit more social, and didn't run into as many problems as he does.
