Did my photo shoot today for my author jacket photo for Don't Fall In Love. It's getting real!

Hit the halfway point on The Disappearers. Unabashedly loving it now. Really opened up in Part 3.

Inching forward on The Disappearers. Much harder without the audiobook much, because the narrators are so inflected in their reading, and with the thick accents of some, I struggle to make out what they're saying and follow.

I passed the 2 big time jumps in Portrait of a Lady, and it got much more interesting again. Making headway again there, nearly all by audio. (I have so much more time for audio.)

Time to make my book jacket photo and HATE the way I photograph, so I bought the book by the master for ideas: AUTHOR, by Beowulf Sheehan.

Just diving in.

what made Portrait of a Lady come alive for 150 pages was (mostly) fascinating characters. now on her European tour, there are all these wealthy expats who do nothing and exude nothing. (and not much development on the existing characters.)

but as I write this, maybe that's just a phase of the book with her encountering them, and i'll a lull in both the "action" and interesting characters in motion.

i was liking Portrait of a Lady a hell of a lot more until i paused to read a slew of new fiction this summer. i spend most of my time mining the classics, so this was new, and suddenly it also feels so much less relevant to my life. i expect it will again, but timing?
