Already, after a few weeks’ married life, my saucepans had burnt marks on them. I had hoped to keep them always shiny, because I had a stupid feeling that as long as I could keep them like new my marriage would stay the same……

Reading Death on the Riviera, by John Bude

I made myself an authority on Mesopotamia; that way they think I must know a lot about everything else. It’s amazing, really, how much people think you must know if you know something nobody else much cares about.

Plant had always considered Trueblood more of an event than of a person. 😂

Can’t believe I finally have this book. So excited I’m giddy. Diving right in.

SO good.

Starting over with the intention of finishing this. I stopped the first time because I was not in the mood for a book that would make me sad. But hoping now I can get through it. It sounds like a good book.

Page 231. Part 2. Forgot how excellent the dialogue is.

I’m confused. 😐 My book says the author is M. C. Beaton. But this book (which is apparently the same book) says Marion Chesney. So. M. C. Beaton writing as etc, etc.

Putting it on hold until I read the first one!
