I'm dnf-ing at 16% - I just can't get past how the author is presenting/analyzing Elagabalus. A good idea for a book, but I'm not a fan of the execution.

I was enjoying the writing, but between some of the repetitive sentences and the glossing over/dismissal of several allegations of horrific abuse and SA against several men cited in this book, I think I'm gonna throw in the towel on this one.

Can I finish this in 2 days, when it's due at the library? Let's find out.

I've made it like 150 pages in, but I'm really just struggling to connect with anything going on in here. It's a bummer, because I really wanted to love this (so many writers I love hyped this up!), but I just don't think it's for me.

Abandoned this to read the new Hanif Abdurraqib, and had to return it to the library. Maybe next time!

It's slow going, but I'm enjoying it! The epitome of no plot, just vibes (basically just cute stories about her little kids).

Eh - I tried for book group, but this one really isn't for me.

I haven't picked this up in weeks, I think I'm gonna DNF. It was fine, just didn't grab my attention.

Trying this one on Audio book - it took me a second to get into the audio for this kind of writing, but I'm really enjoying it now!

It's so short and I tried so hard but I gotta give up, I can't do it 😭
