it's got a vibe. the art is nice. reminds me of Frank quitely. and the two stories I've read are finding their rhythm

i like it so far. it's scratching a crime/thriller/neo-noir itch that i didn't know i had. i saw the movie already do i appreciate the changes between the book and the movie.

the second book is on the way. i hope this book ends well

What a beefy book already.

Carnegie came from nothing and is building himself up.

He was smart and driven but he also used inside knowledge to get where he was. I appreciate his hustle and his love for America. By 30 he was pretty rich and a railroad superintendent. He also did well in the oil business and invested in other businesses as well

I've been liking this book. I don't like literature and this is a bit slow going for me but I've been appreciating the Korean-Japanese history lesson. Also people in this book are very human. There are definitely good and bad but there's a lot of grey. I do want to see where it ends though. Just wish it could be a little bit more compelling and engrossing.

Slow going. Very detailed. So far, I've realized how inept, incompetent, and spineless the British and French were at the beginning of the war. And how messy and unorganized war can be. Germany had a plan and new how to play up the theatrics of war

One of the characters in the book is crazy. Also I've been reminded about the power of time and forgiveness.
