Can't put this down today

The chapter in Angola prison is haunting and deeply disturbing. I don’t know how the direct line from plantation slavery to our current prison system could be clearer.

I am amazed at how youngish female writer can get inside the mind and world of a 70yr old man. It seemed legit, anyway, and I loved his world.

Just finished the chapter on DOE. Holy crap, we’re in trouble.

Hilarious and also overwhelming. I’m having a difficult time relating to the college experience in this story. Are all Harvard students this cerebral?!

A series of vignettes by different characters across time, each narrating an experience with Weylyn Grey. Charming and magical.

Audiobook read by Bradlee has been the best way to go with this one. Just got through Watergate whoa!

The introduction has already made me despise Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr, and I had LOVED OWH Jr. Dammit!

Haunted houses on Indian burial grounds is pretty much how this is going so far.

Half way in one sitting. Have to slow down and pace myself....

I struggled through the first few chapters and almost gave up, maybe because of third person omniscient (?) POV, plus the lack of quotation marks for quotes. But the story picked up like crazy and my brain has finally caught on, so I'm really enjoying it now. Yea!

This book is making me thirsty.

This is a maze of a book. I'm enjoying the back and forth between plot and fairy tale and stories written by each character and not ever knowing which is which.

The Gay Old Dog by Edna Ferber: Beautifully written and depressing as hell.

Three stories, connected through a rare book, a mysterious painter, and an alleged forgery, spanning the early 1600s, the mid 1980s, and 1990s. What's not to love.

This chapter about censorship is making me mad. Going to bed.

So far, enlightening. Finding books from every country in the world isn't as easy at it may seem. What is a nation? What makes a book representative of a culture? Why are most books published outside of the US/European market beyond our reach?

So creeeepy, and beautifully written. And the performance by narrator Santino Fontana is brilliant. Absolutely listen to the audiobook.
