Rereading!

7 pages in and my brain is receiving a rigorous workout – can't wait to figure this one out!

I'm unable to put this book down at this point – so, so enthralling!

Such a wonderfully intriguing read! Oscillating between the paperback and audiobook with this one.

The book is becoming a lot more intense with more serious themes being explored (including criminality, PTSD, role of abuse in the manifestation of loneliness)

– The entire section on machines makes me draw comparisons between Warhol's loneliness and our own generation's tendencies to cope.

Only one-fifth of the way through the book and already so much to think about – I'm enjoying this immensely!

[contd] Or is it only that the presence of life around us makes us more aware of our own feelings, forcing us into acknowledgement of them?
– I paused in-between Hopper's chapter to watch Rear Window's trailer and I have to say that it only heightened the experience and that I highly recommend doing so!
– The alienation that language causes! Wonderfully written! (More on this later)

[contd]: The affect of loneliness on the physical body and on the ways in which we regularly function. Do our own instincts turn against us? (OL mentions the fight or flight response wreaking havoc on the body in the case of a chronic ailment).
– Is it perhaps easier to escape the feeling of loneliness if we're not in a city, something repeatedly referenced as a device that propagates our loneliness? [contd 2/X]

Some stunning observations by Laing, not at all what I was expecting from this book (though to be frank, I went into it entirely unaware and simply seduced by the beautiful purple cover).
