Ready to begin this one. A fantasy novel from 1986. My copy is from 1988, when I used to haunt used bookstores as a teenager, and it has that old book smell on the inside that I love.

The scene with Maggie escaping Koko is worth the price of admission alone. Such an incredibly well written, suspenseful scene. Excellent!

The guys in Singapore are a step slow because while they’re investigating Koko’s murders there, he’s traveled to America and now one of their wives and a close friend who didn’t go with them might be his next victims.

Straub is a fantastic writer. He paints scenes and characters with precision and it’s so easy to picture. The guys are on their way to Singapore to find Koko.
