This is so good. I can’t believe I waited this long to read it—it’s so touching and has helped me write poetry again.

Naomi like Finn. After she talked to Finn with her friend, Lizzie, a few times she really liked to be around him. In the text it said, "I didn't want him to go. I couldn't bear for him to leave. I wanted to grab hold of his shirt and beg him to stay"(49). his shows Naomi is interested in Finn, because she really did not want him to leave her and Lizzie for the time being.

Peter is smart. In school, he is a good student, and at home he is studying high-level information. "… then at home he studied the binding of cells into organisms through the philotic collation of DNA"(124). This shows that Peter is intelligent, since he learns about how DNA works in organisms.

Ender misses his family. To go to Battle School, he had to leave his family behind on Earth, and wouldn't see them for many years. "zBut the ache was there, thick in his throat and the front of his face, hot in his chest and in his eyes. I want to go home"(44). This shows Ender misses his family.

Meggie loves Mo. She had planned to leave with Farid, the Black Prince, and the Black Prince's men to go to help Mo, even though she was supposed to stay behind. "But Mo was alone, all alone. He needed her. He'd always needed her"(632). This shows Meggie loves Mo since she wanted to help him.

Dustfinger loves his daughter, Brianna. Orpheus had promised him that if he made a trail to Mo, he would release Brianna from the cage and the Night-Mare. ""I'll kill you if it so much as touches her. I don't know much about killing, but for you I'd learn""(586)! This shows Dustfinger cares for his daughter a lot, and would do almost anything to save her.

Orpheus is manipulative. He went down to the dungeon cell where Mo was being held captive. ""Oh, so you're not talking to me anymore? Very understandable." Orpheus smiled with self-satisfaction, and Mo's hand went to where his knife had been hidden, the knife so carefully concealed by Battista""(558). This shows that Orpheus is devious.

Doria likes Meggie. He is always being really nice to her, especially when she is upset. In the text it said, ""Well, that boy, you know who I mean--the one who keeps looking at you and brings you flowers and turns Farid green with jealousy""(487). This shows that Doria has feelings for Meggie.

Orpheus is evil. He had an audience with the Adderhead, and gave away the Bluejay's and Violante's plans, for his own wealth and power. The Adderhead said to Orpheus, ""You're a viper like me, right? Poison runs in our veins, not blood. It consumes us, too, but it is deadly only to others""(380). This shows that like the Adderhead, Orpheus is vile.

Farid loves Dustfinger. Farid and Dustfinger were making creatures out of fire and sending them up the walls of Ombra's castle to distract the Piper from hurting Mo. "But Farid sat with Dustfinger in a thicket of thorn apple and brownie-thorn, feeling happiness warm his heart"(340). This shows that Dustfinger makes Farid happy when he is around, because Farid cares a lot about him.

Orpheus is arrogant. This was seen when he was telling Farid that Dustfinger was back, thinking that only his words helped Dustfinger. ""Yes, he's back," Orpheus went on. "Thanks to my words--but the rabble out there are saying the Bluejay brought him back""(245)! This shows that Orpheus thinks himself superior to everyone, and that only he could complete great feats like bringing someone back from the dead.

Mo's being selfish. Meggie overheard his and Resa's argument about their developing second child and going home. ""What about your second child?" Resa went on. "Do you want the baby born in this world?"… By now her father loved this world as much as he and Resa had once done"(148). This shows that instead of thinking of what's best for his family, Mo is only thinking of what he wants for himself.

Farid's hopeful that he will save Meggie and her parents from the Castle of Night. He went to the Adderhead's lair with Dustfinger, then Roxane met them with their pet martens and they went to a secret camp. "… Farid was just telling the two martens how they'd soon all be stealing into the castle of night to rescue Meggie and her parents"(532)… This shows Farid is expecting that he will rescue Meggie and her parents.

Meggie is scared that she can't save her parents. When she was taken to the Castle of Night to see the Adderhead, she made a bargain with him that was supposed to save her father's life. "The Adderhead smiled with delight, as if the disappointment in Meggie's eyes tasted better than all the delicacies on silver dishes before him"(501). This shows Meggie is scared she can't save her parents.

Carla's one of the Adderhead's spies. Roxane met Meggie, Dustfinger, and Farid at the Barn Owl's infirmary with Fenoglio's words for Meggie to try to fix the story; but the Adderhead's men found Meggie. ""Well done!" he said to a girl... she wore the same plain tunic as all the women who worked in the infirmary. Carla, wasn't that her name"(483)? This shows that Carla betrayed Meggie for the Adderhead.

Cosimo isn't faithful to his wife, Violante. Lately Cosimo has been admitting Brianna's, Violante's maid, presence more than he is admitting Violante. ""Cosimo has taken Brianna with him again!" she said in a broken voice. "She's allowed to ride with him, eat with him, she even spends the nights with him"" (405). This shows that Cosimo is no longer devoted to or loves his own wife, and prefers Brianna's presence.

Farid and Meggie like each other. Farid went to visit Meggie at Fenoglio's apartment to try to convince her to stay with him and Dustfinger and Dustfinger's family. In the text it said, "He put his hands on her shoulders and kissed her full on the mouth… When she didn't pull away, he took her face between his hands and kissed her again"(282)… This shows Meggie and Farid have feelings for each other.

Basta is a follower. After Capricorn died, Basta turned to and obeyed Mortola, who was Capricorn's mother and head maid, to get revenge on Mo for killing her son and capturing Mo and his family. "How had Mortola persuaded him to serve her again in spite of it?... She gave herself the answer: because a dog needs a master"(162). This shows Basta always follows what other people do and what they say.

Dustfinger misses his old home in Inkheart. Dustfinger watched the failed execution, and stole Inkheart from Mo despite Farid's protests. "'Now that I have the book I will look for someone who can read me into it again, even if it's a stammerer like Darius who sends me home with a lame leg or a squashed face'"(525-526). This shows Dustfinger is homesick for the world of Inkheart, and will do anything to go back.

Resa is Meggie's mother. Meggie and Fenoglio were taken to Capricorn's village, and Meggie saw one of Capricorn's maids and learned more about how she got there from Darius, who read her out of Inkheart. "… she thought again of the woman with the dark blond hair. 'Resa,' she whispered. TeResa. Teresa was her mother's name"(395). This shows that Meggie has finally met her mom after she disappeared into Inkheart.

Basta is superstitious. Basta and Flatnose are some of Capricorn's men, and they captured Meggie and Pippo. "'You could drive a man crazy, the way you carry on: Don't walk in that shadow, it's unlucky; oh, watch out, you put your left boot on first, that's unlucky; oh my, someone yawned- mercy me, that means I'll fall down dead tomorrow'"(297)! This shows Basta fears having bad luck.

Elinor, Mo, Meggie, Farid, and Dustfinger are in great danger. They just barely escaped from Capricorn's village, and they are on the run, while they are being chased by Capricorn's men. ""Keep your heads down!" gasped Dustfinger, ducking behind one of the ruined walls… The tangled thornbushes growing among its gnarled roots were just tall enough to hide them"(207). This shows they are at risk of being caught.

Capricorn's a liar. Dustfinger betrayed Mo, Meggie, and Elinor to get 'Inkheart' for Capricorn, who told him he'd get Dustfinger back inside 'Inkheart.' Then Capricorn burned the books. "'But you can't burn them!' he stammered. 'You promised to send me back if I found you Silvertongue's book. That's why I told you where he was. That's why I brought you his daughter"(164). This shows Capricorn lied.

Mo is hiding something from Meggie. A stranger named Dustfinger visited Mo one night, and the next day Mo said they were going on a trip, and tried to hide a book from Meggie. "The green linen binding looked worn, but that was all Meggie could see because Mo quickly hid the book behind his back as soon as he noticed her"(18). This shows Mo is keeping a secret from Meggie.

Tess loves Day. Day, now a Patriot, got in a fight with another Patriot named Baxter, and Tess had to give him medical attention to make sure he was alright. In the text it says, "Before I can think about anything else, Tess leans forward and presses her lips against mine"(228). This shows how Tess has a lot of feelings for Day.

June is switching her loyalties. She's getting close to Anden, the Republic's new Elector, as part of Razor's, the Patriots' leader, and the Patriots' plan to kill him to start a revolution. Then she found out that he wants to change the Republic. "I won't help Razor assassinate the Elector"(184). This shows how June is no longer going to be committed to the Patriots, and is choosing to help the enemy.

Day cares a lot about June, despite their differences. When June visited Day in his cell as he waited for his execution, they talked about Metias, and it was difficult for June. "The look on her face is so heartbreaking that I wish for a second that I could hold her. Someone needs to hold her"(230). This shows how even though Day is a criminal and June's in high rank in the military, Day still wants June to be happy.

June wants revenge on Day for killing her brother, Metias. Day is a famous criminal, and he broke into a hospital and stole plague suppressants and just barely escaped alive, killing Metias in the process. "In my mind, I make a silent promise to my brother's killer…. I will hunt you down"(45). This shows that June wants to avenge Metias' death by going after the person who killed him, Day.

The war between the factions is becoming a war over the Divergent. Jeanine, leader of the Erudite, sent Erudite and Dauntless traitors to attack Candor and loyal Divergent, using needles and serum to find out who the Divergent are. "'She put everyone to sleep to find out who the Divergent were'"(209). This shows that the Divergent are being hunted.
