Sea Oak (Story 3/6) - Two Stars - Too viscerally disturbing for my liking. Far, far outside the bounds of decency. Still gets two stars because it’s hysterically funny.

Winky (Story 2/6) - Four Stars - A cruel self-improvement seminar preys on weak people in a cruel world.

Pastoralia (story 1/6)- 5 Stars - This is my favorite of Saunders’ theme park stories. Two people from a cave-person exhibit struggle to support meaningful aspects of life with their meaningless work and the temptation to cave to corporate demands looms large. “So when a rumor makes you doubt us, us up here, it is therefore not true, since we have already defined truth as that thing which helps us win.”
