“It Was Probably a Very Nice Day” 3.75-⭐️: grateful for a recent review of the Romanov murders. If this story has staying power I’ll likely bump up my rating. Last line cuts just right.

“Inside the House of the Historian” 4.75-⭐️: this is if “Hotel California” and (celebrity) “Clue” had a baby. Someone took the fantasy dinner guest list too seriously.

“Our Lady of Resplendent Misfortune” 4.75-⭐️: if it weren’t for the dead cats 🥺 “Change is what happens when you purge everything else.”

“The Wolves” 4-⭐️: Reminds me of the proposed question “man or bear?” “And it is a relief, a relief, to see them as monsters again.”

“The Napoleons are Multiplying” 3-⭐️: “Why does anyone do anything.” The moon plucking made me chuckle!

“Let’s Play Dead” 5-⭐️: history meets reanimation sci-fi & toxic male drama

Lovely. Unrelated: every time Barrera spells out “Elena Garro,” I think of Elena Greco (Ferrante). Lol!

This is really hard to consume. I didn’t read up on the book before approaching.

Everyone’s an asshole and I’m just here gobbling up the popcorn! 😆 I’m so happy there are 2 more books in this series!

I’m only 10 pages deep and I think this is my favorite book of the year 🥹

DNF-ing. Uninspired. Demon’s cavalier folksiness is draining, not funny or heartfelt. Also finding the audiobook grating because the accent sounds phony.

I’m roughly where I left off with this book over a decade ago—it’s hilarious!
