When a child is emotionally worked up, it's because a switch in his or her brain has been flipped and the child is now at his or her most primal... It is not the time to assume that kids can see reason, respond to long conversations, or be commanded to emotionally pull themselves together.

Umm, maybe it could be the years of therapy, including an intense day program that he participated in for two years? Learning how to deal with his anger and develop coping skills?

Just finished the "boys will be boys" chapter. no mention of the fact that the studies are correlation and no mention of how society impacts why girls "do school" better.

Within the first chapter of the book, Gnaulati chides psychologists for relying on scientifically based interventions ("evidence-based practice" p6) and not using clinical intuition and personal insight. He then goes on to chide doctors for using instinct to prescribe medication and notes "there is no scientific backing for such use" (p13).
C'mon man, you can't have it both ways!!!

I idly wondered how exactly one was supposed to lounge. I couldn't remember ever doing it myself. After a moment's consideration, I decided lounging was probably similar to relaxing, but with more money in your pocket.
