Sigh. I wish I was enjoying this more, but I should have looked at my rating for the first book (two stars) and taken that into consideration before I started this one.

Things that are annoying: basically... Everything. The FMC is pulling Mary-Sue for me very hard. She can't just have a few things wrong, it has to be *the worst* things to pull sympathy from Jaron et al. Also, Jaron is being a tool.

...I find I am eye-rolling so much with this one. They talk like they are 14 and it's so back and forth (not in a good way)...
There's no real connection with the characters (in my opinion) and it's hitting with the tropes in a bad way

I'm just notating that I don't like the formatting/style of the book. There's a million little notes to reference back to which could either be from Cella's pov or Max's pov and it's kind of confusing. Its like the author wants to incorporate everything and its more confusing than it is helpful.

I'm enjoying this book a lot more than the first book I've read from K.M. Moronova (The Fabric of Our Souls). It's different from other books I've read, and the MMC's are interesting.
I'm not sure if the creatures are entirely made up by the author or based off of any sort of mythology, but they're cool. Elodie's dedication to her dog is sweet, too.

The sexism from Adam's mother is now making my blood boil.

Oh boy, straight out of the gates, I have to say this book got my blood going... Mostly with contempt with the husband, Adam.

I'm also going wtf because...would the legal system let the wife be the man's lawyer? Like... Isn't that some sort of conflict of interest?

Still not loving this- I had read other comments comparing this to Fourth Wing, but I would compare it more to a watery Blood & Steel by Helen Scheurer but Kiara and Jude are watered down grey washed Althea and Wilder

Hmmm... "She reminded me of all that was light and good" -- gag.

Normally, this would be an 'aww' moment, but the MC thinking this after insta love just gives me the gag and eye-rolls.

Each chapter is first person p.o.v by either Astrid or Levi. My issue, and it's a minor one, is that both Levi & Astrid used 'stupefaction' and it was in consecutive chapters.. if It wasn't one after another, I might have missed it but it's odd. I wished authors would mix up the vocabulary for these kinds of books depending on whose chapter it was.

So far I've amassed some peeves with this book:
So far there's a very emo vibe with Greyson.
The 'bad' characters seem to have exaggerated evilness just to drive home that, okay, they are bad people.
-Vanessa. How did he know she was doing that to kids? That's never explained. Now I'm left to assume that Greyson stalks people in the hospital and magically finds 'bad' people.

Decent enough read; the storyline flows smoothly in this series but there seems to always be something that annoys me with the books; like the copy and paste of character descriptions that carried over from one book to another (I suppose it's done for the purpose of continuity?), or repeat phrases...how such possibilities never occurred to so and so when it's the most logical thing.... or how wishy washy romance.

This book is so full of tropes... and I can't get over Lorelei apparently being able to defy gravity -_- or like parkour I guess? Anyways. I don't *absolutely* hate the book, I just don't particularly enjoy it so far.

Hmm... Maybe YA isn't my thing. Kol going from party-boy to accepting full mantle responsibility mode in a blink of an eye is hard to swallow.

I loved this book! I'm so glad that I have the rest of the series to go through.

Such an amazing book! I cannot wait to read the next ones!

I quite liked this book more than I thought I would. I loathed Janus I'm Maledicte,but in this book his character was rounded out more. I quite enjoyed Psyke. I'm hoping there is another book in the future

I liked the premise of the story but reading it was hard to follow sometimes.

Jack threw an arm back across his face. "Did you come here to merely grasp at my balls, or was there something you wanted?"

Creidhe stared at him aghast. "His daughter? How terrible! What happened to her?" But she seemed to know the answer already; it was in the gravity of his austere features, the careful neutrality of the eyes.

I'm kind of frustrated with Faythe and her indecision between Marc and Jace. It's like AAARRGGHH!!!! *FIST SHAKE*

just picked it up so I don't have a lot to say about it yet, I read the little sample page and it looked pretty cool! Looking forward to it. :)
