I’ll continue reading these if Cosimano keeps writing them. I read them in the audiobook narrators voice at this point.

I’m about 5 chapters into the audiobook, reading this for the high school book club by request of the school’s director; she’s a scientist by training, loved the book, and wants to take the kids on a field trip to see it in the theater. I expected it to be dry and slow but IT IS NOT. Hooked after the two sentences - the audio has been great. I’m going to have to switch to print to finish it on time.

High school book club read, the kids were into it. They drew parallels to current and potential future events in the US. They really liked the characters. I did too.

Jon Klassen can do no wrong, imho.

I love nonfiction books that can be read at two levels of difficulty. Read the regular text on the pages for a fun little picture book and read the sidebars to up the (interesting) factual content.

Great series for SEL.

Fascinating account of history and zoology. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed out loud reading any other book, certainly not nonfiction. Lucy Cooke is hilariously charming. HIGHLY recommend the audiobook, read by the author.

Simple and sad but matter of fact story about death.

Listening to the audiobook. Excellent so far. This one brings awareness of the Indian Child Welfare Act.

I'm doing the audio and about 30 minutes into listening I nearly had a panic attack second guessing whether we should be reading this for book club. It's such an internally awful story. This is fiction, but R. Kelly is real and what he did to girls and women is real. Sean Combs is real. We meet next week to discuss and I'm really interested in their thoughts on so many things in this book.

I did not expect to laugh this much while reading a zoology book. The audio, read by the author, is... *chef's kiss.*

I returned to this today and this book is just packed with so much information and the audiobook delivers it so fast that I find myself thinking about something I learned in one minute and missing the info coming in the next several minutes. I think I'm going to have to buy a print copy to read after finishing the audio.

Jam-packed with interesting and infuriating info. I listened to like 2 chapters during my drive home from work one day and have talked about several facts I learned during that time with various people over the past couple weeks. Will need to read in small doses to avoid my head-exploding due to mind-blowing info and rage.

I have burst out laughing several times while reading this book.

THE HYPE IS REAL.

Lunchtime book club at the high school is going to be ON FIRE with this one! I just finished reading the first half and can't wait until we meet on Thursday. I needed a win after last month's book bombed and this. is. it. Excited to hear their thoughts, so far, and predictions for the second half.

Doing the audiobook and enjoying it so far. I'm not sure I'd be into it if I was reading but the narrator is PERFECT for this character, she absolutely nails the mix of horror and mundane. It's giving my-mom-meets-Grady-Hendrix.

I love this series but I was not prepared for what just happened.

Reading this for book club at the high school & reached the stopping point for our 1st discussion tomorrow. I started the book on audio & found it too descriptive-not my jam. I also worried the Spanish words & phrases would turn the teens off. But the pace picked up quickly & there is a Spanish glossary in the back! Now, it's all I can do to keep myself from reading the second half & am eager to hear their thoughts!

Almost exactly halfway through. I'm reading and it's engrossing but I'm not sure what's going on. Not that it's confusing. I'm following the individual stories, but getting more and more impatient to see how everything comes together. If I didn't have to work tomorrow I'd read all night until I finished the book. Also encountered a word I'd never seen before; gelid- icy; extremely cold.

Didn't realize this was the second in a series. I haven't read the first. Oops. Still gonna finish it, but that explains some things.

I'm at what seems like a natural end point, but when I checked my progress on the audiobook it said I have three hours left. I'm curious to learn what those three hours contain.

Listening to this one. The first few chapters were rough - slow build and lots of description of the MC's fantasy world (the exact opposite of my cup of tea). But I kept listening and the pace picked up and things started happening and now I'm IN IT. Can't wait to figure out wtf is happening.
