The first part of this audio book is quite disturbing. I listened to it on the way home from work one night, and back to work the next morning. I had the thought of popping out the disk once at the office and dropping it into the mailbox, back to SimplyAudio HQ. But I kept listening, and its gotten much better. I'm very impressionable, you see, and need to not compound up my already twisted brain.

4 stars so far. Would be 5 but I'm tired of Robert Jordan and Maria together. Jeez. But what a riveting story.

Still sticking with this one. And even though I'm not finding the time to get through it, I have no desire to give up on it. Maybe this weekend I'll finish.

I liked this one, and I miss it now that its over.

I don't know why I've stuck with this one so long. Certainly the library is wondering the same thing. And just when I believe I'm getting into the flow of the Henderson character--combination of self delusion and self-awareness--he goes off on some mind tangent about his bridgework.

I'm listening to this one on audiobook, and its one of those "can't wait to get in the car, don't want to get out of the car" good books. Here's what I mean--Anyone who's tried to eat at the Cool Springs Chick-fil-a on a Saturday knows that its very busy, and traffic can be tied up into the streets. This Saturday, I wanted Chick-fil-a. I wanted to listen to "... Played with Fire". Perfect!

I feared that since this book was written, what, 40 + years ago, it wouldn't have stood the test of time--that the story would not impress me, because I've seen "Silence of the Lambs", and read "Girl with a Dragon Tattoo", and lived through Wayne Williams, Jeffery Dahmer, and the Washington DC shooters. My fears were unwarranted. Very good book.

Getting into this a bit more. Finally understanding its rhythm. Probably a book where I need to read a chapter at each sitting, not just a few pages.

Just started this one last night. Good opening chapter.

Struggling with this one, though probably my own fault. Taking forever to read, but I'm committed to finishing it over Christmas break.

I'm about90% through this book, and unless Lamb throws some vampires, werewolves or aliens in here at the end, I think I'm going to love it. Lamb demonstrates the ability to write real but sympathetic characters. I feel like I'm learning and growing at the same time as Caelum Quirk.
