Im enjoying it, I really am…as it’s so well written, the author is such a wordsmith…but, my goodness all the love-making, while in good taste to be sure…and the continual streams of sexual innuendo flowing through nearly every conversation…hoping for a little more STORY forthcoming. Real people do not go about in a perpetual state of erotic drunkenness!

I’m having such a hard time struggling through this book…probably just circumstantial on my part, but It just doesn’t interest me as much as Rutherfurd’s other tomes, perhaps because I am ignorant of Russian history. I’m going to lay it down for a time.

Edward Rutherfurd’s does not disappoint

Dreadful. Had to lay it down b/c I had another lovely Edward Rutherfurd book just waiting to be cracked open.

Marvelous to begin with...loosing my interest slightly at this point, so I stopped a while to read something else. It’s good, I’ll get back to it.

Terrible. Everyone’s life is a shambles...I read this far hoping for glad redemption or happiness for someone, if only one character. Alas, I can plod no further at the risk of my own emotional well being

Gave up on this book. Plods along too slowly, tho’ interesting historical accounts, the characters don’t seem very well developed perhaps because they are too true to life and were boring in actual life

I love history but not this much...too many uninteresting historical detail...not enough character development.
