It’s driving me crazy that the main character is only referred to as “the artist” while everyone else has a name. It keeps pulling me out of the story. I hope it will eventually be explained. There have also been some repeated bits of story that I don’t understand the need for. On the other hand, some of the prose is so lyrically written that I’ve found myself reading those passages more than once.

I gave up a third of the way through. Given the topic, it is a necessarily anxiety provoking experience and I just couldn’t take it.

Reread Animal Farm, the last time was over 30 years ago. I never would have imagined how closely it would resemble our government in 2020.

Going to have to put this one on hold. Not feeling it so far.
